Marian worked at Artistic Cards in Elmira, and previously as a secretary at Bendix in Elmira. She loved to pick up sea shells on the beaches of Florida and Myrtle Beach.
Surviving are her son, Lance and Pamela Powell of Red Creek, NY; daughter, Kathy Smith of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren, Lance (Greta) Powell of Omaha, Nebraska, Luree (Doug) Avery of Watkins Glen, NY, George Powell of Red Creek, NY and Christy (Tom) Chapman of Painted Post, NY; two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was honored with the 1997 SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service, the 2009 NYS Friends of Extension Award and the 2014 Cornell University Outstanding Alumni Award.
